WE BELIEVE IN A CIRCULAR ECONOMY, WHICH IS WHY WE
Sustainability at Ropewalks Hotel
At Ropewalks Hotel, we are committed to making our properties the premier choice for conscious travellers. We continuously reduce our environmental footprint through sustainable practices while fostering regenerative tourism to benefit our local community.
Embracing a circular economy
- Circularity in action: We recycle, repurpose, refurbish, and restore materials wherever possible.
- Local sourcing: We prioritise local goods and services to minimise transport emissions and support independent producers who share our green and inclusive values.
- Community support: We offer our time and spaces free of charge to local charities and community initiatives, and regularly donate cleaned lost-and-found items to local charity shops.
Energy and resource management
- 100% renewable energy: All property energy is sourced from certified renewables. We strictly monitor daily consumption—from smart lighting to eco-friendly cleaning products—to keep our footprint light.
- Zero single-use plastics: Toiletries are supplied in sustainable, refillable dispensers, drastically cutting packaging waste. Kitchen buy in bulk to reduce plastic waste.
- Responsible waste handling: We manage food production closely to minimise kitchen waste and utilise community collection points for soft plastics and battery recycling.
Green teams
- Our staff actively reduce travel emissions by utilising our cycle-to-work scheme and subsidised public transport options.
- We encourage a Carbon Literacy amongst our teams with a personal – ask them for a crib sheet!
